Peter Gabriel's all-star collaboration, entitled Big Blue Ball, featuring Karl Wallinger, Sinead O'Connor, and many others, to be released on June 24 on Real World Records.

Sixteen years in the making, Peter Gabriel's Big Blue Ball will be released June 24 on Real World Records. This all-star collaboration began in 1992 during a "Recording Week" at Real World Studios when Gabriel opened the doors to 75 international artists from over 20 countries. This series of weeklong residential sessions continued over three years. "The idea was to put rock musicians together with musicians from all over the world and see what happened," Gabriel says. "We ran the studio like a dating service with a 24-hour cafe."

The 11 tracks on Big Blue Ball offer a world-view of music, a snapshot of the music-making continents at that time. Featuring Gabriel on lead vocals on several tracks, performances also include Karl Wallinger, Tim Finn, Sinead O'Connor collaborating with Japanese percussionist Joji Hirota, Natacha Atlas singing with an Egyptian string section brought in by Hossam Ramzy, The Holmes Brothers with Billy Cobham on drums, and Papa Wemba's extraordinary vocals paired with the flamenco guitar of Juan Canizares. Additional notable western, African and Asian musicians also contribute.

The album's first single "Whole Thing" is now available online, including at iTunes. The single features Gabriel on lead vocal and keyboards, Tim Finn (Crowded House) and Andy White (ALT) on backing vocals, Karl Wallinger (World Party) and Paul Allen on guitar, and Francis Bebey, (the legendary cultural icon of Cameroon) on flute and backing vocals.

Michael Brook North American Tour Dates Announced! Touring band features Lisa Germano.

Michael Brook, well on the mend from a mountain bike accident which led the guitarist/producer/film composer/inventor to postpone his much-anticipated tour supporting 2006's critically-acclaimed solo album RockPaperScissors, relaunches RockPaperScissors and the North American dates on January 21 with two warm-up performances at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

The first ticketed performances, presented by KCRW, start January 25 at Largo in Los Angeles and feature celebrated singer-songwriter Lisa Germano — opening for Michael as well as performing with him — and classical violin virtuoso Julie Rogers. The touring unit will also perform live on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic the morning of January 24.

2006 was a breakthrough year for Michael Brook. In addition to the release of his groundbreaking CD RockPaperScissors, the year saw Brook receive great acclaim for his innovative music score for the Davis Guggenheim film An Inconvenient Truth which features Al Gore's stark warning on climate change. Michael also drew praise in 2006 for his original score for the film Who Killed the Electric Car, directed by Chris Paine.

The show itself is going to be unique, the first half premiering material from a new exclusive ambient/remix record — that will initially only be on sale on this tour — as well as highlighting the best of the recently released solo album RockpaperScissors, which Time Out New York described as "magic realism for the ears." The second half of the performance, Michael will be playing excerpts from his work as a Composer for film, including pieces from An Inconvenient Truth, and from the Michael Mann film Heat. Also featured during the second half of the show: selections from Michael Brook's previous album releases on the 4AD record label.

Michael Brook RockPaperScissors Tour Dates and related events include:

Log onto www.myspace.com/michaelbrook for complete and updated tour dates info.

There will be a strong visual element to the show, with images from renowned artists such as Saam Gabbay (Ashes and Snow exhibit), interactive designer Aaron Koblin, and light photographer Dean Chamberlain, whose unique images comprise the RockPaperScissors artwork.

Unable to play during the healing process, Michael took the opportunity to create a companion piece for the record, a radical remix of RockPaperScissors, with collaborator James Hood (Pretenders, Moodswings). The eleven tracks of the original album have been transformed into one continuous and much-altered piece, mostly ambient but with passages that veer into world music and dancefloor-friendly sounds. The results will be available (at first exclusively) on this tour. The new record will street officially in the early spring, to tie in with further activities, including a unique collaboration at Tribeca Film Festival with leading choral composer Eric Whitacre.

Brook has also taken the recuperation time to collaborate with renowned director Michael Apted on his new documentary, The Game of Power.

Since its summer release, critics and fans alike have applauded RockPaperScissors along with Michael's score for An Inconvenient Truth. Al Gore had the following words: "Over the past 25 years, Michael Brook has amassed an impressive body of work, and the new music and soundtrack rank among the very best of an illustrious career."

During a feature on NPR Weekend Edition, host Liane Hansen aptly described the impact of Brook's music: "Michael Brook is one of those forces in the music industry whose name may not be front and center but whose presence is unmistakable."

Well-known for collaborations with artists such as Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, Youssou N'Dour, Jane Siberry and The Pogues, Brook taps the talents of friends and renowned artists for his solo release. These include Lisa Germano, Paul Buchanan (The Blue Nile), and Claude Chalhoub. The CD also includes exquisite posthumous musical explorations with legendary figures Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Richard Burton.

The title track, featuring Paul Buchanan and remixed by James Hood, garnered early support from radio, including the nationally syndicated PRI/XM Radio show Echoes where the album made the 'Best of 2006' list.

Paul McCartney Ecce Cor Meum - In Stores Now!

Ecce Cor Meum is Paul McCartney's new full-length work of classical music, his fourth classical album since his first, The Liverpool Oratorio, released in 1991.

Ecce Cor Meum has been more than eight years in the making and its origins follow in the historic tradition of composers that have been commissioned to write music for the world-renowned Magdalen College Oxford. Paul was invited by Anthony Smith (President of Magdalen College 1998-2005) to compose something to set the seal on a new concert hall for the college. His hope was for 'a choral piece which could be sung by young people the world over in the same way that Handel's Messiah is'.

Produced by John Fraser, Ecce Cor Meum, a compelling new work in four movements scored for choir, soprano and orchestras, was recorded this year at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. It was performed by EMI artist Kate Royal (soprano); The Boys of King's College Choir, Cambridge; The Boys Of Magdalen College Choir, Oxford and The Academy Of St Martin In The Fields conducted by Gavin Greenway.
